Abĭla

（τὰ Ἄβιλα).

A town of Coele-Syria, afterwards called Claudiopolis, and capital of the tetrarchy of Abilené. It is mentioned in the N. T., Luke, iii. 1.

A mountain of Africa, opposite Gibraltar (Calpé).
