DIABE´TAE

DIABE´TAE (Διαβῆται: Eth. Διαβαταῖος). Stephanus B. (s. v.) speaks of the Diabetae as islands about Syme, which is an island off the Carian coast. Pliny also names the Diabetae (5.31). There are two or three small islands called Siskle off the south part of Syme; and there are also other small islands near it.
