Washington, Jan. 12.
--The Secretary of the Treasury will not enter upon his office till early next week, having previously to arrange some business in New York.
There was a Cabinet meeting last night till a late hour on the dispatches brought by Lieut. Talbot from Maj. Anderson.
There is no reason to believe that anything further will be yielded to South Carolina.
It is believed that the bill introduced in the Legislature of Missouri, prohibiting the Mayor or sheriff of St. Louis from using a military force to suppress riot, looked to the seizure of the public property, and hence troops have been ordered thither.
The Senate galleries and avenues leading to the chamber are densely crowded to hear Senator Seward.

--Gen. Scott is still engaged in making preparations to guard against any possible breach of the peace in this city, in consequence of the present political agitation.
Effective military forces are to be posted in various parts of the city.
It is not probable that any but regular troops and reliable militia will be employed for this purpose.
Company A of the 2d Regiment of Light Artillery, Captain Barry, arrived here this morning, and are quartered at the Arsenal.--Two other companies from Leavenworth proceeded to Fort McHenry.
As a general debate will take place in the House on the Army bill, a large number of the members are preparing themselves accordingly.
It will involve the present agitating questions.
The reports about the public buildings being strongly guarded, are highly exaggerated.
The Navy bill, passed in the House yesterday, appropriates nearly eleven millions of dollars.
It is of the usual character, no new principle being incorporated in it. All the navy-yards are provided for, but at reduced amounts.
