[1093] Ἔχετος: a king of Epirus notorious for his fiendish cruelty; cf. Od. 18. 84,Ἔχετον βασιλῆα, βροτῶν δηλήμονα πάντων κ.τ.λ.” He blinded his daughter Metope, or Amphissa, for yielding to her lover Aichmodicus. Moreover, he gave her barleycorns of bronze, promising to restore her sight if she could grind them into flour (Eustath. p. 1839).
