مُزْدَجَرٌ ذ , in the Kur liv. 4, (Bd, TA,) is [an inf. n.,] syn. with اِزْدِجَارٌ, (Bd,) meaning (assumed tropical:) Depulsion, and prevention, or prohibition, from the commission of sinful actions; (TA;) or from punishment: or it there means a threatening: and some read مَزَّجَرٌ, changing the د into ز, and incorporating it [into the preceding letter].
