2 تَزْنِيمٌ ذ [inf. n. of زنّم] The cutting a small portion of the ear of a camel or other animal, and leaving it hanging thereto. (KL. [See زَنَمَةٌ.]) ― -b2- [And hence,] The act of marking with a sign or token. (KL. [See also the same word as a subst. properly so termed, expl. below.]) ― -b3- And The conjoining any one with a people, or party, to which he does not belong. (KL.) ― -b4- زَنَّمُوا إِِلَىَّ هٰذَا الخَصْمُ, (inf. n. تَزْنِيمٌ, TA,) They sent to me this adversary in order that he might contend in an altercation, dispute, or litigate, with me. (K.)
