Acknowledgment.

--We are requested by Capt. J. Richard Lewellen, of the Archer Rifles, to acknowledge the receipt (through the hands of Col. T. J. Evans) of eighty-six pairs of woollen socks, a donation, from the West Point Church Relief Society, of King William county. The Captain says that this appropriate gift comes just in time, as his men are in need of these very things which the young ladies, in their Christian patriotism, have supplied. In the name of his company he returns thanks to them, and begs to assure them that he and and his men will be stimulated the more zealously to defend the homes and firesides of the South from the invasion of a heartless foe, when they have such assurances that the poor soldier is remembered and so kindly cared for by the noble-hearted women of Virginia.
