The Episcopal Convention of Alabama, at it's late session, elected, by a unanimous vote of the clerical and lay orders, the Rev. Richard Wilmer, D. D, of Henrico, Bishop of that Diocese. Dr. Wilmer has probably no superior among the clergy of the South as an original and vigorous thinker, a powerful and impressive pulpit orator, and a high-toned Christian gentleman. Dr. Wilmer is a son of the former esteemed President Wilmer of William and Mary College. No worthier successor of the late apostolic Bishop Pobb could be found.
