House of Delegates.
Monday, Feb. 17, 1862.
The House of Delegates met at 12 o'clock, M.
Mr. Sheffry, of
Augusta, in the Chair.--Prayer by
Rev. Mr. Duncan.
Mr. Anderson, of
Botetourt, offered a resolution that the
House meet daily at 11 o'clock, A. M., and that the
Speaker vacate the Chair at 2½ o'clock, P. M., and resume it at 4½ o'clock, P. M.
The remainder of the open session was consumed in proposing and voting down amendments to this resolution.
The principal objection urged to the early hour of meeting, was that it interfered with the very important sessions of the
House committees.
Without deciding the question, 12½ o'clock arrived, and the
House went into secret session under the standing rule.
