Ordnance Department,

Richmond, Va., April 21, 1861.
it is impossible for Ammunition to be furnished for the calibres of arms obtained elsewhere than at the Armory, as this Department has not the moulds, nor does it know the dimensions.

Commanding officers of such companies must put up their own ammunition, the cost of which will be paid by this Department.

C. Dimmock, Col. of Ordnance.
