The northwest.

--One of our correspondents in the mountains of Northwestern Virginia, in a letter dated the 4th inst., informs us that he saw a young man the week before who had just passed directly through from Marion county, and found no Yankees on his track. Even the strong fortification on the summit of the Alleghany, on the Northwestern turnpike, has been evacuated and destroyed. The road was then open from Romney to Grafton — even the ‘"Swamp Drageons"’ had left Greenland in Hardy.--Rochingham Register.
