Judge Arthur F. Hopkins.

This gentleman, who has been patriotically engaged for months past in providing for the sick soldiers in this city, was, by some strange mistake, represented in our local columns on the 14th inst, as having been committed to jail for want of security to keep the peace in the matter of an assault upon one C. Ellett. The thing, we learn, is simply ridiculous. --Ellett preferred before the Mayor a charge against the Judge for an assault, but failed to appear before the Mayor to prosecute it, and the Judge was discharged. We are sorry that such a mistake should have occurred.
