OKTAPOLIS (Kizilkaya) Turkey.

Town in Lycia N of the gulf of Fethiye, 8 km inland from Göcek. As its name implies, Oktapolis was in Imperial times a synoecism of eight communities, of which the town at Kizilkaya was the most important. There are in fact more than eight ancient sites in the neighborhood, most of them very small; one is identified by an inscription as Hippokome. Among the ruins at Kizilkaya are three rock-tombs of Lycian type, but no inscription in the Lycian language.
