Sitĭfis

Σίτιφα). Now Setif; a town in Mauretania on the borders
of Numidia. It was a colony under the Romans, and when Mauretania Caesariensis was divided,
Sitifis became the capital of the eastern province which was called after it Mauretania
Sitifensis (
Ptol.iv. 2, 34).
