ALABASTROTHE´CA

ALABASTROTHE´CA (ἀλαβαστροθήκη or ἀλαβαστοθήκη), according to some a casket for unguent-bottles [ALABASTRUM], according to others a holder into which they were put when not in actual use, since, being round at the bottom, they could not stand unsupported.
