ABBASSUS

ABBASSUS or AMBASUM (Abbassus, Liv.; Ἄμβασον, Steph. B. sub voce: Eth. Ἀμβασίτης), a town of Phrygia, on the frontiers of the Tolistoboii, in Galatia. (Liv. 38.15.) It is, perhaps, the same as the ALAMALSSUS of Hierocles, and the AMADASSE of the Councils. (Hierocles, p. 678, with Wesseling's note.)
