ABBASSUS
ABBASSUS or
AMBASUM (Abbassus, Liv.;
Ἄμβασον,
Steph. B. sub voce: Eth.
Ἀμβασίτης), a town of Phrygia, on the frontiers of the Tolistoboii, in Galatia. (
Liv. 38.15.)
It is, perhaps, the same as the ALAMALSSUS of Hierocles, and the AMADASSE of the Councils. (Hierocles, p. 678, with Wesseling's note.)
