On yesterday Commodore Tatnall's fleet of steamers went down the river to look after and strengthen the obstructions in the river.
The fleet was unmolested by the enemy.
The most of the Yankee vessels have drawn off from the position they held on the day before.
Seventeen Federal vessels were in Warsaw Sound yesterday.
Heavy firing was heard there, but the cause of it was unknown.
A private letter from Bainbridge, Ga., dated the 27th inst., says it is reported there that a fight had recently occurred on James's Island, near Apalachicola, and that sixty Federals were killed and thirty-five taken prisoners. Our loss was thirteen.
