BLESTIUM (Monmouth) Monmouthshire, Wales.

The place name occurs in the Antonine Itinerary, 17.6 km from Burrium (Usk) and the same distance from Ariconium (Weston-under-Penyard). It has long been identified with Monmouth, at the junction of the rivers Wye and Monnow. This identification has yet to be corroborated by the finding of Roman structures, though pottery has been found in and near the town.
