ἄκαπν-ος , ον,
A.without smoke, free from it, “σκέπη” Hp.Acut.65; not smoking, making no smoke, “πῦρ” Thphr.Ign.71; θυσία ἄ. an offering but no burnt offering, Luc.Am.4; so a poem is called “Καλλιόπης ἄ. θύος” AP6.321 (Leon.): —ἄκαπνα γὰρ αἰὲν ἀοιδοὶ θύομεν we sacrifice without a fire of our own, i.e. live at others' expense, Call.Fr.53P.

III. ἄκαπνον, τό, = σάμψουχον, Ps.-Dsc.3.39.
