Perry, William Stevens 1832-1898

Clergyman; born in Providence, R. I., Jan. 22, 1832; graduated at Harvard College in 1854; ordained in the Protestant Episcopal Church in 1858; held pastorates in various parts of New England; and was consecrated bishop of Iowa, Sept. 10, 1876. His publications include Journals of the General conventions of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America; [144] Documentary history of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America; Historical collections of the American colonial Church; The history of the American Episcopal Church, 1587-1883; The American Church and the American Constitution, etc. He died in Dubuque, Ia., May 13, 1898.
