Intemperance on the increase.

--We regret to learn, as we do from those whose position enables them to know by daily observation, that intemperance is frightfully on the increase among us. The old and the young, men and women, boys and girls, are being added with fearful rapidity and in swelling numbers as recruits to the army of this demon of the family circle and society. As in war the laws are silent, so also in war morals are relaxed, and intemperance and licentiousness make rapid progress where at other times they would hardly dare to show their disgusting features.-- Cincinnati Enquirer.
