Ominous.

--Our Union friends believe in omens. They conceived that the hand of Providence was visible in the snapping of a flag-staff down town, last week. We want to ask them about the flag over the Convention Hall, which came down to half-mast in the gale of yesterday, and so remained during the session. Was that ominous? We think not. But a spectator inquired if anybody was dead within; and the reply was that the signal of distress was displayed in consequence of the lack of vitality in the Conventional body.
