Iazyges
(
Ἰαζύγες). A powerful Sarmatian people, who originally
dwelt on the coast of the Pontus Euxinus and the Palus Maeotis, but in the reign of Claudius
settled near the Quadi in Dacia, in the country bounded by the Danube, the Theiss, and the
Sarmatian mountains. In the fifth century A.D., they were conquered by the Goths.
