ENGANNIM (Ἠγαννά).

A city situated in that part of the tribe of Judah designated “the valley” or “the plain” (Josh. 15.34), which bordered on the great plain of Philistia; and several. of the cities mentioned in immediate connection with it, and which are still represented by villages bearing the same name, enable us to place it in the neighbourhood of the valley of Elah.

Another city of the same name was situated in the tribe of Issachar (Josh. 19.21), and assigned to the Levites (Josh. 21.29). [G.W]
