TA´OCHI

Eth. TA´OCHI (Eth. Τάοχοι), a tribe in the interior of Pontus (Steph. B. sub voce which is frequently noticed by Xenophon in the Anabasis (4.4.18). They lived in mountain fortresses in which they kept all their possessions (4.7.1, comp. 6.5, 5.15.17). They occupied the country near the frontiers of Armenia.
