ANTHEDOS
Corinthia, Greece.
Anthedos, a
port on the Saronic Gulf, is named only by Pliny (
HN
4.5) in a list of significant coastal toponyms: the Spiraion promontory and the ports Anthedos, Boukephalos,
and Kenchreai. The progression in the list is from S to
N. The narrow cove at the mouth of the Sellondas river
(ancient Sellanys) on the S side of the Bay of Sophikon
is the probable location of the harbor.
