Mayor's Court.

--The proceedings at this place yesterday possessed no special interest, although the presence of a large number of free colored individuals, in and about the Court-House, contributed somewhat to the confusion of the hour, and excited the curiosity of the loafing spectators who make it their daily resort. These negroes are under orders to shoulder spades and proceed to Manassas, which they don't relish much, and all sorts of excuses are framed, but few received. Among the criminals was a negro girl named Susan, charged with setting fire to the premises of Mrs. Elizabeth E. Gentry. The case was continued till Tuesday next. Wm. H. Ross, ex-penitentiary convict, and refugee from the chain-gang, entered upon the register as the worst nigger in town, was ordered 39 lashes for fleeing when the watchmen pursued. A few rollicking fellows were committed to jail for drunkenness, and some other charges of a trivial nature were disposed of, and then the Court adjourned.
