Be at once polite and dignified; this is not easy, for dignity often has the appearance of coldness, while courtesy leads to a sacrifice of dignity. Pursue any subject which you wish to master both by theory and practice; the two react upon one another. Bear the past in mind; it will help you in dealing with the future.
