The concert to-night.

--The concert for the benefit of the families of the Richmond volunteers, takes place to night at the United Presbyterian Church. The programme is attractive, and there is no doubt that the execution will give very general satisfaction. Several gentlemen and ladies of high musical attainments, although not accustomed to sing in public, have volunteered for the occasion. The object is a most important one, and we do hope the attendance will be large. No direct appeal to the hearts of our people could be so strong as the more fact of the existence of such destination among the families of our gallant fellow citizens now risking their lives in the field in defence of us all. They surely deserve this much consideration at one hands. It should be recollected that men will be much more disposed to volunteer when they find that those they leave at home will not be neglected. Every dollar given for this purpose in a dollar given for our own safety.
