TA´RSIA
TA´RSIA (
Ταρσίη,
Arrian Ind. chap. 37), a promontory on the coast of Carmania, visited by the fleet of Nearchus.
The conjecture of Vincent (
Voyage of Nearchus, i. p. 362) that it is represented by the present
Rás-al-Djerd appears well founded.
It is perhaps the same as the Themisteas Promontorium of Pliny (
6.25) as suggested by Müller (
Geog. Graec. i. p. 360.)
