Beastly conduct.

--A boatman, who gave his name as Richard Bryant, was before the Mayor yesterday, to answer the charge of being guilty of the dirty conduct of spitting on a lady and gentleman in the Theatre, the night before. Bryant pretended not to have known anything of the offence, and asked pardon; but the act was so aggravated and so provoking, that the Mayor committed him to prison in default of security for his better behavior. A few months in the chain-gang would be beneficial to him.
