Poultry Forfeiture

--John Carr, a dealer at the First Market, was before the Mayor yesterday to answer for violating the market ordinance by buying and selling chickens. After a hearing, the chickens were forfeited, and the defendant fined $15. Carr has been here but two weeks from Baltimore, and has not yet learned the ropes. Any one having poultry on sale in the markets, subjects himself to a fine for buying for himself or any one else, and if detected in the operation, is sure to have to pay through the nose.
