Chance for a good speculation.
--General A Hurton, late
Quartermaster General of the late Republic of
Texas during her early struggle for independence, is now at the
Exchange Hotel.
The General, while acting in that capacity, and as special agent for the
Republic, sold, in one day, in the city of
Mobile, Ala., over one hundred thousand acres of
Texas lands or Land Scrip, as it was then styled; and in a few days after, about the same amount in the city of
Natchez, Mississippi, for the special benefit of the
Texan Army.
The General is now authorized to sell several thousand acres of land in the most desirable positions of that flourishing State, and to place the proceeds at the disposal of the Confederate Government, for the benefit of the Confederate Army.
Gentlemen wishing to make a profitable investment, and at the same time place means at his disposal for the benefit of their country, will do well to call on the
General.
Some of the lands sold by him have already yielded purchasers over twenty dollars per acre profit.
