Mr. Jackson, the proprietor of the Marshall House, in Alexandria, Va., who recently shot Ellsworth of New York, and was butchered by the Zouaves, of whom he was Colonel, was the same gentleman who cut down the Lincoln and Hamlin pole, at Occoquan, Prince William County, Va.,during the canvass of last year, and prevented its being hoisted again. He was a zealous Southern. Rights man, and would have shot Elisworth if he had known that it would be his last act.
