The Enrolment of troops from each State in the Confederate armies is a matter of great interest and importance, and we are glad to notice that the Legislature of South Carolina recently passed “An Act to provide for the preparation of Rolls of Troops furnished by the State of South Carolina to the Army of the Confederate States, and of the militia of the State in active service during the war between the Confederate and United States.” We believe that North Carolina has passed a similar act, and we trust that the other States will follow so that we may have a full roster of the troops who fought for Southern independence.
