dear Sir—I am instructed by the governor to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 17th inst., asking for information in regard to the troops furnished by the State of North Carolina during the Civil War, 1861 to 1865.
The information desired is not in this office, consequently cannot be furnished by the governor.
He has referred your letter to the adjutant-general of North Carolina, with request that he furnish you such information as he has in his department.
