Dr. R. G. Banks.

--In referring to this gentleman (late of Hampton, Va.,) in our issue of Wednesday last, we erroneously stated him to have been a Surgeon in the United States Army. Dr. Banks was, on several occasions, called upon to act as Surgeon of Fortress Monroe, but, we understand, was not a commissioned Surgeon in the Army of the United States. He has now been commissioned as a full Surgeon in the Army of the Confederate States. We regret to learn he has been a sufferer, at the hands of the Black Republicans, they having entered and taken possession of his property at Hampton. He is a physician of old and prominent standing, of this State, and a man of superior medical ability. We were pleased to hear of his appointment as a Surgeon in our new army.
