Regiment formed from first four Companies reporting at Springfield, Ill., April 20, 1861, which were ordered to Cairo, Ill., April 22.

Regiment fully organized by the addition of three other Infantry Companies and three Artillery Companies and mustered in for three months service by Capt. John Pope, U. S. A., April 29, 1861.

Attached to Prentiss' Brigade and on garrison duty at Cairo, Ill., till July.

Mustered out July 29, 1861.

Lost by disease 4 during service.
