ἐξισωτέον κ.τ.λ. = δεῖ ἐξισοῦν τὸ γοῦν ἴσα ἀντιλέξαι, one must equalize the right at least of like reply; i.e. you must make me so far your equal as to grant me the right of replying at the same length. The phrase is a pleonastic fusion of （1） ἐξισωτέον τὸ ἀντιλέξαι with （2） συγχωρητέον τὸ ἴσα ἀντιλέξαι.This text is part of:
