[419] Βλέποντα κ.τ.λ., i.e. τότε σκότον βλέποντα, εἰ καὶ νῦν ὀρθὰ βλέπεις. The Greek love of direct anthithesis often coordinates clauses where we must subordinate one to the other: cp. below, 673: Isoc. 6.54 “πῶς οὐκ αἰσχρόν, ... τὴν μὲν Εὐρώπην καὶ τὴν Ἀσίαν μεστὴν πεποιηκέναι τροπαίων, ... ὑπὲρ δὲ τῆς πατρίδος ... μηδὲ μίαν μάχην φαίνεσθαι μεμαχημένους;” βλέπειν σκότον, like ἐν σκότῳ ... ι ὀψοἰατο (1273), Eur. Ba. 510 “σκότιον εἰσορᾷ κνέφας.”
