[713] ἥξοι is better than the conject. ἕξοι ( “constrain”), as expressing the suddenness with which the doom should overtake him. Soph. El. 489 “ἥξει ... Ἐρινύς.” The simple acc. αὐτὸν, since ἥξοι = καταλήψοιτο: cp. Hdt. 9.26 “φαμὲν ἡμέας ἱκνέεσθαι ἡγεμονεύειν,” instead of ἐς ἡμέας (2. 29).
