A prisoner Pleads his own cause and is acquitted.

--A man named Francis Church was lately arrested in St. Louis on the charge of stealing a watch. He was indicted, and on his trial on Tuesday last he acted as his own counsel, addressed the jury for one hour, and although (says the St. Louis papers) every one believed him guilty, such was his argument and eloquence that the jury acquitted him.
