[719] εἰς ἄβατον ὄρος the tribrach contained in one word gives a ruggedness which is certainly intentional here, as in 1496 τὸν πατέρα πατήρ, Soph. Aj. 459 “πεδία τάδε.” A tribrach in the 5th place, always rare, usually occurs either when the penultimate word of the verse is a paeon primus （¯˘˘˘）, as Soph. El. 326 “ἐντάφια χεροῖν”, or when the last word is a paeon quartus （˘˘˘¯）, as Soph. Phil. 1302 “ἄνδρα πολέμιον.” Verse 967 below is exceptional.
