Another Roman mother.--At Bangor, Me., a young man offered himself as a recruit at one of the offices in that city, who, evidently being a minor, was asked if he had his father's permission to volunteer.
He replied that he had no father; but admitted that his mother was willing.
“Then you must get your mother's consent,” said the officer.
The young man retired, and returned with the following brief but noble letter:--“He is my all; but I freely give him to my country!” --Bangor Whig, and Boston Transcript, May 4.
