--Peter Kain, a strapping son of Mars, was arraigned for going into Mrs. Muller's Lager Beer Saloon, nearly opposite the old United States Motel, and committing an assault on the lady and her husband on her refusal to supply him with something to drink. In the melee that ensued, Kain's bayonet got into the possession of the woman's husband and was introduced with some effect on the assailant's head. The three nations, Irish, German and Italian, were represented respectively, in accused, complainant and witness. Kain was sent to prison in default of surety for his good behavior. The Mayor will, no doubt, release him when his company is ready to go away.
