John Pegram.

1640. Born Virginia.

Appointed Virginia. 1o.

Brigadier-General, November 7, 1862. Various commands. In 1864 commanded Early's old division, Second Corps, Army of Northern Virginia. Had been recommended by Lee for major-general, and it was understood his commission had been made out when he was killed. Died February 6, 1865, at Petersburg, Va., of wounds received at Hatcher's Run.
