Necrology.
James Bean, a charter member of the
Medford Historical Society, died at his home in
Medford June 19.
Mr. Bean was born in
England, but came to this country at an early age and settled in
Medford.
He identified himself with the various interests of his adopted home and held many important positions in the administration of municipal affairs.
He was of a genial disposition and kindly nature, and his familiar figure and cheerful face will be greatly missed by our citizens.
Charles H. Swan, a charter member of the
Medford Historical Society, died at his home in
Roxbury April 17.
Mr. Swan was well known in engineering circles, and was engaged in the construction of many important water and sewerage works.
He was interested in the work of the Historical Society, his family name being connected with the earlier history of
Medford, and the picture of the
Swan House belonging to the Society was presented to it by him.
