[590] Demens, qui, the Homeric νήπιος ὅς (Od. 1. 8). ‘Nimbos et fulmen’ is meant to include thunder and lightning; the next verse however mentions only the mock-thunder, the mock-lightning having been already mentioned v. 587, a curious exemplification of Virg.'s indirect and fragmentary way of telling a story.
