[742] χνοάζων λευκανθὲς κάρα = ἔχων χνοάζον λευκαῖς κάρα: Aristoph. Cl. 978χνοῦς ὥσπερ μήλοισιν ἐπήνθει” (the down on his chin was as the bloom on apples): here the verb marks the light strewing of silver in dark hair. Cp. Soph. El. 43ἠνθισμένον.” As Aesch. has μελανθὲς γένος, “swarthy” (Aesch. Supp. 154), so in Anthol. 12.165 (Jacobs 2.502) λευκανθής = “of fair complexion” as opp. to μελίχρους.
