ξυναρπάζω φρενί expresses the thrill of instant recognition, as the voice falls distinctly (“εὐμαθὲς”) on his ear; it also suggests the emotion of joy. For the verb, cp. Simylus (a poet of the Middle Comedy) ap. Stobaeus Flor. 360. 4. 14 “κριτὴν τὸ ῥηθὲν δυνάμενον ξυναρπάσαι”.
